In all robbery there is either theft or extortion;
When theft is robbery;
- During committing theft
- Cause or attempting to cause death, hurt, restrain or fear
When extortion is robbery;
- During committing extortion
- Putting person in fear of instant death, hurt and restraint
- Punishment for robbery; 3 year to 10 year – 392
- Punishment for attempt to commit robbery; 7 year – 393
- Punishment for causing hurt while committing robbery; 4 to 10 year – 394
Decoity – 391
- Five or more persons conjointly commit
- Person present or aiding such offence also includes
- Punishment of decoity; 4 to 10 year – 395
- Punishment of decoity with murder; Death, IOL, 4 to 10 Year – 396
- Punishment of robbery or decoity with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt; 7 year minimum – 397
- Attempt to commit decoity or robbery armed with deadly weapon; 7 year minimum – 398
- Making preparation for decoity; IOL, up to 10 year – 399
