Theft in Pakistan and its punishment in Pakistani Law

Theft is punishable crime in the Pakistan Law. According to section 378 of P.P.C. Pakistan, “whoever intending to take dishonestly any movable property out of the possession of any person without that person’s consent, moves that property in order to such taking is said to commit theft”.

Punishment of theft according to section 379 of P.P.C. Pakistan Penal Code is three year of imprisonment or fine or both.
There is difference in simple theft and theft is dwelling house. If a person commits theft in dwelling house which includes any building, tent, vessel used as human dwelling, he is punished with imprisonment which may extend to seven year or fine or both according to section 380 of P.P.C. Pakistan.
When a servant of clerk commit theft of property in his possession of his master than he is punished with imprisonment which may extend to seven years or fine or both under section 381 of P.P.C. Pakistan.
Theft of car is separate offense and there is separate punishment for theft of car under Pakistani law. According to section 381 A of P.P.C. whoever commit theft of car or any other motor vehicle, including motor-cycle, scooter and tractor shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years and with fine not exceeding the value of the stolen car of motor vehicle.
