Polls 2024 and the PTI P
The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-Parliamentarians (PTI-P) posted its list of candidates for 17 national assembly seats and 73 provincial assembly seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.
The province has 45 general seats in the National Assembly and 115 general seats in the provincial assembly.
Notable among them are Pervez Khattak, who is the leader of the party and was a provincial chief minister in the past, his two sons and one son-in-law, Mahmood Khan, who was a chief minister in the past, and Khan and Bangash, who were both provincial ministers in the past.
Mahmood Khan, the previous chief minister, will run for one NA seat and two PA seats in his home district of Swat. Mr. Khattak is running for election in two PA seats and one NA seat in his home district of Nowshera.
Mr. Khattak is running for NA-33 Nowshera and PK-87 and PK-88 seats in Nowshera. His son-in-law, Imran Khattak, is running for NA-34 and PK-89 seats in the neighbourhood.
Five of his kids are also running for office in Nowshera. These include Mohammad Ibrahim Khattak, Mohammad Ismail Khattak, and Mohammad Ismail Khattak.
Mahmood Khan, who used to be chief minister, will run for office in NA-IV Swat-III and PK-10 Swat-VIII.
Former PTI MNA from Buner district Sher Akbar Khan has been given election tickets for NA-10 Buner by the PTI-P. Saleh Mohammad, a former PTI MNA from Mansehra, has been given election tickets for NA-14 Mansehra and NA-15 Mansehra-cum-Torghar. Usman Ghani, who used to work for the PTI, won the party’s NA-3 Swat seat.
Mian Nazir Rehman is running for NA-11 Shangla, Mohammad Zeeshan for NA-9 Malakand, Shamraiz Khan for NA-16 Abbottabad, Falak Niaz for NA-25 Charsadda, Arbab Mohammad Haleem for NA-30 Peshawar, Mohammad Saleem AKhtar Durrani for NA-31 Peshawar, Asiya Asad for NA-35 Kohat, Syed Qaiser Abbas Shah for NA-39 Bannu, and Syed Mohammad Jawad Asghar Shah for NA-44 Dera Ismail Khan.
For the provincial assembly seats, the PTI-P has put forward former MPA Haji Ghulam Mohammad in PK-1 Chitral, Shahzada Khalid Pervez, a former worker for the Pakistan Peoples Party, in PK-2 Chitral-II, and Mohibullah Khan, a former PTI MPA and minister, in PK-9 Swat-II.
Former finance minister Muzaffar Said has been given the party’s PK-16 ticket for the Lower Dir district. Said left the Jamaat-i-Islami to join the Pakistan Peoples Party and then left the PPP to join the PTI-P.
In PK-30 Shangla-III, Nadia Sher Khan, a former PTI MPA, is running for office. In PK-33 Kolai-Palas, Mufti Obaidur Rehman is running, and in PK-36 Mansehra, Syed Ahmed Hussain Shah, a former KP minister and two-time MPA, is running. Mr. Shah quit the PPP and joined the PTI, but he later switched to the PTI-P.
It gave Saleh Mohammad, who left the PTI after the deadly protests on May 9, an election ticket in PK-40 Mansehra. In 2018, Mr. Mohammad ran as an independent candidate and won the NA-13 Mansehra seat. He then joined the PTI.
The PTI-P has put forward Arbab Mohammad Waseem, a former PTI MPA, for PK-73 Peshawar, Dilroz Khan, a close friend of Mr. Khattak when he was chief minister of the province, for PK-79 Peshawar VIII, Ziaullah Bangash, a former PTI MPA and provincial minister, for PK-92 Kohat-III, and Ehtesham Javed for PK-111 Dera Ismail Khan.
