NA 62 Jhelum-I / NA-62 Pakistan

NA 62 is a constituency for the seat of Pakistan’s National Assembly from Jhelum. Jhelum is known for its brave soldiers to the British and later Pakistan Armed forces and also popular as city of soldiers or land of martyrs and warriors. Two members of Pakistan’s National Assembly are elected from Jhelum District. These two constituencies are NA-62 and NA-63.

In 1970, this constituency was named as NW-32 and in General Elections, Ghulam Hussain of PPP won the seat. From 1977 to 1985 the constituency was renamed as NA-44. In 1977 General Elections, Ghulam Hussain of PPP won the seat. In 1985 General Elections, Raja Muhammad Afzal Khan won the seat as an Independent candidate. From 1988 to 2002 the constituency was named as NA-45. In 1988 Elections, Raja Muhammad Afzal Khan won the seat as IJI candidate. In 1990 Elections, Ch. Muhammad Altaf Hussain of PDA won the seat. In 1993 General Elections, Raja Muhammad Afzal Khan won the seat as PML-N candidate. In 1997 General Elections, Raja Muhammad Afzal Khan won the seat fourth time as PML-N candidate.

 From 2002 the constituency is renamed as NA-62. In 2002 General Elections, Ch. Shahbaz Hussain of PML-Q won the seat. In 2008 General Elections, Raja Muhammad Safdar Khan of PML-N won the seat. In 2013 General Elections, Ch. Khadim Hussain of PML-N won the seat and defeated Muhammad Saqlain of PTI.
