NA 127 Lahore Elections 2024The Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain-led PML-Q has stopped talking about seat adjustments with the PML-N and is now publicly backing Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari for the NA-127 Lahore seat in the National Assembly.At a press meeting at the PPP headquarters on Thursday, Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, the head planner of the PML-Q and a former governor of Punjab, said that his party would support Mr. Bhutto-Zardari.In NA-127, the leader of the PPP is running against Attaullah Tarar of the PML-N.He called the PPP leader the “future of the country” and said that Lahore would not let down the son of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.He said it would be “best diplomatic move” for PTI to help the PPP leader succeed, calling it a “diplomatic move.”Mr. Sarwar said that he would pay attention to Mr. Bhutto-Zardari’s success from Lahore because “it would strengthen the federation.”After being asked a question, he said that PML-Q’s backing for the PPP leader wasn’t for any personal gain; he thought he was the best choice and was happy with how he did as foreign minister for 16 months.He said that his choice to back Mr. Bhutto-Zardari wasn’t just his own; the leader of the PML-Q, Mr. Hussain, gave the go-ahead.Mr. Sarwar says that his love for PPP is “not new,” and he has known the Bhutto family for more than 40 years.He thought back to the time when he stood by Benazir Bhutto as she fought against authoritarianism. “PPP has never played politics that divide people.”The former governor told the political parties to “respect each other” and asked the authorities to make sure that everyone in politics had the same chances.In the meantime, the PML-Q has pulled its candidates from NA-117 and two Punjab Assembly seats, PP-145 and PP-146, so that the IPP can run their own candidates.Mian Waheed Ahmed, the PML-Q candidate from NA-117, quit the race at a meeting with Mr. Sarwar and Abdul Aleem Khan, the head of the IPP.IPP is running Mr. Khan from NA-117. Also, candidates from PP-145 and PP-146, Syed Hashmat Ali and Syed Rashid Riaz, said they would run the election campaign for the IPP boss instead of running for office themselves.
