NA 122 Pakistan/ NA 122 Lahore-V
NA 122 is constituency for the seat of Pakistan’s National Assembly. It is also known as NA 122 Lahore-V and fifth of total 13 National Assembly seats from District Lahore of Punjab Province. The area of constituency consists of central parts of Lahore District.
This constituency consists of crowded urban areas of Samanabad, Shadman, Shah Jamal, Garhi Shahu, Dharam Pura and Upper Mall. This constituency is one of the most popular constituencies in Pakistan because of election rigging case between PML-N and PTI.
Historically the constituency is considerd as stronghold of PML-N. In 2002 General Elections, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq won this seat for PML-N even when Nawaz Sharif was self-exiled to Saudi Arabia. In 2008 General Elections again Sardar Ayaz Sadiq won the seat on PML-N ticket.
In 2013 General Elections, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq again won the seat on PML-N ticket but this time the competition was really tough. He got 93,362 votes and his rival Imran Khan of PTI got 84,417 votes. The margin of victory was so narrow and afterward Imran Khan challenged the results in court. Imran Khan won the case and court declared that elections were rigged and annulled Ayaz Sadiq victory.
