Punjab Prohibition of Expressing Matters on Walls Act 1995
Recently Punjab Government has amended this Act due to increasing acts of terrorism. There are many incidents reported that some banned militant organizations advertise their names via wall chalking i.e. ISIS etc. The purpose of this act is to prohibit expression of matters on walls in the Punjab. It was promulgated on 13th February 1995. After the recent amendments done by Govt. in 2015 now there are strict punishment i.e. imprisonment up to 6 months and fine up to one lack rupees for violation of this law. After the recent amendments in wall-chalking laws now the offences are declared as cognizable and non-bailable which means an FIR is lodged for such offence.
